"The number of cases reached 458 in Delhi today, with Najafgarh reporting the highest number so far this season," MCD Public Health Committee Chairman V K Monga said.

Besides Najafgarh, the other badly-hit areas are Shahadra North, West Delhi and Rohini.

Two deaths have been reported in the capital due to dengue this year.

Dengue cases have been higher this year as compared to recent years, with the phenomenon being attributed to early onset of monsoon.

The state government, has, however, put up a brave face maintaining the number of cases though larger than the last few years was not beyond "expectation".

Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri yesterday reviewed the dengue situation in the city with senior officers of the Delhi government, MCD and New Delhi Municipal Council.
