Following two deadly chopper crashes in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang area within a fortnight that have claimed 24 lives including that of Arunachal chief minister Dorjee Khandu on April 30, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will prepare a detailed action plan after a security audit of aircraft of all operators in the region.

“In these four weeks, the DGCA will also conduct a detailed inspection of all critical airports, airfields and helipads in the Northeast,” said BK Handique, minister, Department for Development of North Eastern Region after meeting the officials of DGCA, Pawan Hans, Airports Authority of India, and Arunachal government.
Trying to tackle the problem that has emerged after the suspension of the Pawan Hans fleet, Alliance Air has been asked to fly daily flights to Assam's Lilabari Airport, the nearest air link to most areas of AP, the minister said.
