Political Career: “My father and his brother were active in Jan Sangh’s activities and were even jailed during the Emergency. So politics was an obvious choice,” said Solanki. He contested first in 1993. He is the only MLA in Delhi who publishes a souvenir of his achievements before each election.

Family: Wife Jagmati Devi is a homemaker. They have four daughters and a son. “I believe in giving good education to my children. They are well educated and settled,” Solanki said. An avid reader, he has two personal libraries. Solanki is also a trained wrestler and has participated in wrestling bouts during his youth.

Cars: The Ambassador has been Solanki’s favourite car for more than 30 years. He drives one for 5-6 years and then replaces it with a new one. The family also owns Maruti Wagon R.
