Delhi Police on Sunday said they have arrested a gang of women thieves, who allegedly took to crime inspired by lady thief’s character in Dhoom 2.

Aishwarya Rai had played the thief in the Bollywood film. The five women took to crime to support their families. A man who received the stolen goods has also been arrested.
Geeta (30), the gang leader, Kela Ram (32), Krishna (40), Ompati (40), Sheila (20) and Gurvachan (45), the alleged receiver, were arrested from Peeragarhi Chowk in Paschim Vihar. The women belong to Haryana’s Khokhra Kot in Rohtak district.
“Geeta said their husbands were either drunkards or drug-addicts. They started working as rag-pickers and later graduated to petty thefts. A woman motivated them to commit bigger thefts,” said Sharad Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), adding 48 batteries, used to provide back-up power to signal towers of a mobile service provider, were recovered from them.
