DIMTS bags award for cluster bus service

The Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Ltd, set up with equal equity of the Delhi government, has won the best PPP initiative in urban transport award for their project, ‘Corporatisation of Private Stage Carriage Buses in Delhi’ at the Urban Mobility Conference 2011, organised by the Institute of Urban Transport.

The Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Ltd, set up with equal equity of the Delhi government, has won the best PPP initiative in urban transport award for their project, ‘Corporatisation of Private Stage Carriage Buses in Delhi’ at the Urban Mobility Conference 2011, organised by the Institute of Urban Transport.

DIMTS manages the operations of these buses on government’s behalf. The 150 cluster buses are equipped with GPS system.

The cluster scheme was conceptualised and drafted by DIMTS in 2007. It follows the government’s aim to provide safe and comfortable public transport to the residents of Delhi .

“Each cluster has a combination of high, medium and low demand routes. The idea being that high demand route can generate enough revenue to compensate for medium and low demand routes. Besides, electronic ticketing machines will be installed soon,” said Arvinder Singh, Delhi minister of transport and education.
