To streamline the functioning of street lights in the Capital, the Public Work Department has handed over their maintenance to power distributing companies.

"We hope that these street lights will be maintained properly. All the five discoms were give the charge last week," a senior official told IANS.

However, the department has not a handed over the maintenance of new streetlights that were installed in the run-up to the CWG.
