Don’t pick and choose, nail all guilty, court directs police

A city court on Monday asked the Delhi police not to follow a ‘pick and choose’ policy while interrogating the accused in the human trafficking case, reports Naziya Alvi.

A city court on Monday asked the Delhi police not to follow a ‘pick and choose’ policy while interrogating the accused in the human trafficking case. “No matter how high a person may be, the police should proceed if they have evidence to nail them,” said Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau, sending suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara to judicial remand till May 4. It was an indirect observation made in reference to MPs Mitra Sen Yadav, Ashok Kumar Rawat and Mohd Tahir Khan, whose names have cropped up during interrogation.

Earlier, the investigating officer told the court, “So far 35 passports have been recovered. Of the 35, six passports belong to Katara and his family, while 29 belonged to Rajesh Gampa, co-accused and his personal secretary.”

The police have also sought responses from British authorities.
