Even as the city police have been trying to enforce strict guidelines on BPO companies and cab drivers to ensure safety of women employees working in call centres, a driver in Gurgaon has been booked for attempt to rape a 27-year-old woman.

According to police, Reena (name changed), who works in a multinational company, was his employer. She had hired him a few years ago. The accused tried to rape Reena when she was alone at her Sector 47 residence.
“The incident took place last week, but the FIR was registered on Tuesday. The complainant works in a Noida-based company and is married. Her husband was away at the tine of the incident,” said a senior police officer. The driver used to live in the servant’s quarter of the house.
According to the complaint, the driver entered her room in the pretext of giving something when she was getting ready for the office in the morning.
“He entered the house and pushed me to the bed. I started screaming and ran towards the gate. He fled the spot and I don’t know where he has gone,” she said. The case has been registered at the Sadar police station but the driver hasn’t been arrested so far. Investigations are on in the case.
“We have identified him. He will be arrested soon,” the officer added.
