The faculty meeting of the Delhi University’s Department of Commerce approved the semester-based syllabi for the honours programme and BA programme commerce papers, on Wednesday. In the new B.Com honours course, there will be 26 papers instead of the original 22. The B. Com Programme course will have 24 papers instead of 16 earlier.

“We have maintained the total workload. The number of lectures will be more or less the same,” said KV Bhanumurthy, head, Commerce and Business department. The faculty meeting has also brought down the number of optional papers from four to two. “Some optional papers have been made compulsory. All functional areas of management are now mandatory,” Bhanumurthy added.
The two new compulsory papers are International Business and Indirect Taxation. Out of the 45 faculty members, only one teacher dissented against the passing of the syllabi.
