The attempt by Delhi University (DU) and its faculty members to resolve the deadlock over the semester system through mediation has failed, the Delhi High Court was told on Monday.

The teachers have been opposing the implementation of the semester system for undergraduate students.
The counsel for the University and the Delhi University Teachers Association appeared before Justice Sunil Gaur and informed him about the development.
The court sought an affidavit from them by Tuesday to pass a detailed order.
On July 15, the court had asked both the parties to go for mediation in order to find a permanent solution and appointed a lawyer as the mediator.
The court's suggestion had come on a petition filed by the University, seeking a direction restraining the agitating teachers from going on a strike and holding demonstrations repeatedly.
