With the arrest of four persons, including a Delhi University (DU) student, the Crime Branch has busted a gang of pick-pockets, police said on Monday.
DCP (crime) Ashok Chand said the arrested have been identified as Shehzada Kashif, 26, Ravi Kumar, 34, Shehzada Ashiq, 32, and Varun Thakral, 22. Eighteen mobile phones and Rs 50,000 have been recovered from them.

“The gang usually operated in congested Metro trains, plying at Raja Garden, Kashmere Gate and Rajouri Garden Metro stations. Thakral, who is pursuing graduation from DU, used to receive the stolen articles. Ten cases of pick-pocketing have been solved with the gang’s arrest,” Chand said.
Kashif, Kumar and Ashiq were arrested from the Kashmere Gate Metro station on Friday. Thakral was arrested at their instance. “They used to target people travelling alone. The fifth member, Wasim, who picked the victim’s pocket is at large,” DCP Chand said.
