Describing Home Minister P Chidambaram's remarks on Pakistan stifling Mumbai terror probe as "not fair", former Pakistan National Security Adviser Mahmud Ali Durrani on Saturday said there was "zero evidence" in India's dossiers against Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed.
"I feel sorry he (Chidambaram) made this statement. It is not a fair statement," Durrani told reporters soon after delivering a lecture on 'India and Pakistan: Bridging the Gap' at the Observer Research Foundation organised event in New Delhi.
"Our country is doing its very best to move forward. They have moved forward. They have arrested a lot of people. They want to go in a fashion that they prove this in a court of law," he said when asked for his comment on Chidambaram's statement to a foreign news channel.
"Just capturing people left and right may not be correct. I am not in government, but for what I know (Pakistani) people are committed (to bring Mumbai attack perpetrators to book). It is in our interest, not your interest," he added.
To a question on Indian dossiers on JuD's chief's role in the 26/11 attack, Durrani said, "To the best of my knowledge there is zero proof to the involvement of Hafiz Saeed."
