Taking action against encroachments in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday conducted a removal drive against 60 temporary shops.

The drive was carried out at footpaths and open land near poultry market of Gazipur where people had encroached upon public land and put up shops.
"We have removed encroachments of 60 temporary shops made of bamboos, tin-shade and wooden structure running illegally at footpaths and open land near poultry market of Gazipur," said an MCD spokesperson.
The drive was carried out by veterinary, health and general licensing departments of the MCD. During the drive, trade articles related to veterinary, health and general licensing departments were also seized and deposited in their respective stores.
A demolition drive was also carried out in Sadar Paharganj and Central Zones in which action was taken against six properties. The properties were located at Qutab Road, Roshanara Road and Vishwakarma Colony.
