Here’s some good news for engineering aspirants. Delhi Technological University (DTU) is all set to admit more students at both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels from the 2010-11 academic session, reports HT Correspondent.

Delhi Technological University (DTU) is all set to admit more students at both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels from the 2010-11 academic session.

The university plans to add 230 seats in its B.Tech courses and 72 seats in its M.Tech. programmes.

The academic council meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor P.B. Sharma recommended the proposal on January 8.

Forty seats will be added in the B.Tech. course in Biotechnology, increasing the intake from 20 to 60.

In Polymer Science and Chemical Technology, 20 seats will be added, taking the number of total seats to 60.

In Environmental Engineering, the university is likely to increase seats from 30 to 60.

In Civil Engineering, the total seats may be increased from 70 to 120.

Computer Engineering is also set to see an increase. The current limit of 90 seats will be raised to 120.

Production & Industrial Engineering may see an enhancement of 30 to 60 seats.

From this year, DTU will admit students for both the Delhi and the outside-Delhi categories on the basis of the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by CBSE.

Offering 18 seats each, four new M.Tech. programmes — Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Geo-technology, Signal Processing and Digital Design — are also likely to be added from the new academic session.

This means an increase of 72 seats at the PG level from the current figure of 306.
