Eye donation camp at ground grabs eyeballs

They are not just extending support to the movement against corruption, but are extending their contribution to other areas too. On Monday, more than 3,000 people pledged to donate their eyes, thereby extending the anti-corruption movement to philanthropy as well.

The eye donation camp drew a huge number of supporters. The stall had been set up inside the Ramlila Ground where 73-year-old anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare is sitting on an indefinite hunger strike. Here, thousands of people were seen filling up the forms for eye donation.

“We had come to the Ramlila Ground to extend our support to the movement and thought it would be a good idea to use this opportunity for this noble cause. So far more than 3,000 people have registered themselves and the number is continuously rising,” said Shashi Bhushan Singh from Drishti-Lok Foundation and Social Research Society (attached with National Eye Bank, AIIMS).

A number of students were among the many who filled up the form on Monday.
