A student, who sent an impersonator to write his Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) BTech entrance examination, was apprehended by the university authorities on Thursday.

Md. Ishtiyaque Alam was caught when the photograph taken by the university administration on May 29 during the entrance test, did not match with that of Alam who appeared for the interview on Thursday.
“On interrogation, Alam said that he paid Rs 80,000 to the impersonator for writing the test on his behalf,” said Simi Malhotra, media coordinator, JMI.
Alam’s result has been cancelled and the matter has been reported to the varsity proctor. The university has started photographing candidates appearing at various stages of the selection process to check any case of impersonation. So far, five cases of impersonation have been reported by the varsity.
