A film on engineering challenges faced by the Delhi Metro during its second phase of construction has won the prestigious National Award in the 'Best Promotional Film - Non-Feature Films' category.
The film, 'The Dream Fulfilled — Memories of the Engineering Challenges', was declared the winner at the 59th National Film Awards for 2011. The ‘Rajat Kamal’ award will be conferred by President of India Pratibha Patil in May.
“The 30-minute documentary highlights the technical difficulties and challenges faced by engineers during the construction of Delhi Metro's Phase 2, under which 125km track was constructed in only four-and-a-half years,” said Anuj Dayal, spokesperson, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The film showcases the challenges faced by the DMRC such as the construction of a 100-metre bridge over railway tracks at Okhla, signature bridge over Ring Road at Moolchand, viaduct over Dhaula Kuan, Zamrudpur mishap and its timely completion and construction of a steel-made station at Chattarpur, among others.
The film, screened under the 'Indian Panorama' section at the International Film Festival of India in Goa in November last year, was widely appreciated.
