Police on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in a court here in the DDA flat allotment scam, seeking the prosecution of five persons who had allegedly got 57 flats allotted to others using fraudulent means.

Running into about 8,000 pages, the chargesheet said the accused had filed as many as 2,000 applications in the names of “poor persons” to corner maximum number of flats in the draw of lots.
The Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of Delhi Police’s Crime Branch filed the chargesheet against L N Meena, Deepak Kumar, Mittan Lal Gupta, Raju Ram and Vijay Pal in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal.
The chargesheet against Suresh Kumar Meena, the sixth person arrested in connection with the case, was not filed.
The police have mentioned the names of 154 witnesses in the case.
“The chargesheet said that the five persons fraudulently filled forms in the names of poor persons with the intention of cornering the maximum number of flats,” a senior police official said.
Police sought prosecution of the accused for preparing fake documents, cheating, destruction of evidence, forgery and criminal conspiracy. The maximum punishment in this case could be life imprisonment.
