The newly elected Delhi University Student’s Union (DUSU) will now have to work according to a strict time schedule.

Following the closure of elections and declaration of results, the proctor’s office has decided to to implement working hours, within which the union will have to wrap up its activities.
“The affidavit specified that the working hours for DUSU has been fixed between 9am and 6pm. This has been done keeping in mind the incidents that have happened in the past and the safety of women on campus,” said Usha Rao, chief election officer, DUSU.
However, this move has met with stiff resistance from members of the DUSU. “This change has been brought in to curb student activism. We have always worked for 24 hours. We will approach the proctor to discuss the issue,” said Mahendra Chaudhary, ex- vice president, NSUI.
