A return to his country after two-and-half years turned nightmarish for a man who had raised an alarm over the corrupt practices of his employers, when he had to spend three days in jail because of some confusion between Delhi police and Punjab police.

Samdeep Mohan Varghese, who lives in Jakarta, was also harassed by some bikers after his release from jail following a court order on Monday.

Varghese chased the bikers but they fled leaving their vehicles behind. Varghese has filed a complaint with Tilak Marg police station.

Varghese had complained against a Delhi-based private company for corrupt practices. Following this, a complaint was made against Varghese and an FIR was registered against him in Rajpura in Punjab in 2010.

“I was fighting that case and had requested to move the case out of Punjab. The case was transferred to the crime branch who told the court recently that case can only be filed in Delhi. Now, when I was cleared by the Punjab police, how can the Delhi police detain me on the basis of look-out circular, which is not valid,” he said.

When the Punjab police was reluctant to take Varghese into custody, the court on May 14 asked the Delhi police to free him.
