Police have attributed the lack of a breakthrough in the death of a 14-year-old four days ago in southwest Delhi's Dwarka to an “absence of forensic evidence", HT reports.

Police have attributed the lack of a breakthrough in the death of a 14-year-old four days ago in southwest Delhi's Dwarka to an “absence of forensic evidence".

On September 5, Vaibhav Kumar, a Class 9 student and a promising athlete, was reported dead from his Skylark Apartments home in Sector 6.

“We are yet to obtain the post-mortem report of the boy. The forensic report also is expected only on Monday,” said AK Ojha, additional commissioner of police (southwest).

A case of murder has not been registered despite the discovery of blood spots near the elevator on the fourth, fifth and seventh floors of the building from which the boy reportedly fell to his death and the allegation of his family that one of his acquaintances who lives in the same building could be involved in his death.

Kumar, a student of Bal Bharti School and an athlete who had participated in an international rope-jumping event in Japan last year, was last seen before leaving for tuitions around 6pm.

"An open-minded investigation is being conducted,” a senior officer said.
