Fresh notices to crime branch, DMRC

A Delhi court on Thursday issued fresh notices to the Crime Branch and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation after they failed to reply to the application of the two brothers charged with the death of a constable during the India Gate protests. Upasana Mukherjee reports.

A Delhi court on Thursday issued fresh notices to the Crime Branch and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) after they failed to reply to the application of the two brothers charged with the death of a constable during the India Gate protests.

While no one appeared for DMRC, the police informed the court that the investigation had been transferred to the Crime Branch. Metropolitan Magistrate Ambika Singh said, "Issue fresh notice to file the report to Investigating Officer, Crime Branch and DMRC."

The accused duo - Kailash Joshi and his brother Amit - on December 26 had moved court for directions to preserve the video footage of Rajiv Chowk and Rithala Metro stations for December 23.

They had claimed that they were travelling in the metro train and were nowhere near to the spot where the incident occurred.

Eight people have been accused for the death of Tomar. All have been granted bail.
