Students, teachers and parents of St. Columba’s School, Ashok Place welcomed the Commonwealth Games baton before the opening ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Students, teachers and parents of St. Columba’s School, Ashok Place welcomed the Commonwealth Games baton before the opening ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Brother William D’Souza received the baton from the Games officials on the school's behalf.

The school administered a prayer which was thereafter followed by a couple of songs by the school choir.

A student also highlighted the technical aspect of the baton ranging from its capability to click pictures, receive encouraging texts from people through their journey to its ability to flash the flag of the country it enters and its unique feature to measure the pollution level of the nation it makes its way through.

Meanwhile, the most visible face of the Commonwealth Games, Shera, the mascot, was also seen mingling with the students and spreading the spirit of the Games.

DLF Public School, Sahibabad hosted the CBSE East Zone Swimming Meet 2010. The Mega Meet saw participation from over 350 swimmers from 53 schools across the East Indian States.

Chief Guest of the event was Juher Bin Shagir, CDO, Ghaziabad and the Inaugural as well as Prize Distribution ceremony was presided over by Pushkar Vohra, AEO (Sports), CBSE. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Mrignaini, School Executive Director.

Ryan International School, Sohna Road has been accredited with the prestigious International award, ISA, an initiative of the British Council for being one of the 'Best School in Gurgaon'.

The school has successfully attained the ISA Award which is accredited for three years. The scheme has accredited about 670 schools in the UK since the initial pilot project in 1998.

The first five winning Indian schools, Ryan International, Sohna Road were presented their awards by David Miliband, Minister of state for School Standards, UK at a ceremony at the British Council, Delhi.
