Gang rape victim did not die here, docs tell court
Doctors, who were part of the medical team attending to the December 16 gang rape victim, told a fast-track court on Friday that she was shifted to the Singapore hospital to provide her with the best possible treatment and not because she had died as alleged by the accused.
Doctors, who were part of the medical team attending to the December 16 gang rape victim, told a fast-track court on Friday that she was shifted to the Singapore hospital to provide her with the best possible treatment and not because she had died as alleged by the accused.
The doctors' response came on an allegation by the defence counsel of two accused - Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur - that the victim was not shifted to Singapore for treatment but because she had died and the government did not want the public to know it.
The counsel for accused made this allegation while cross-examining two prosecution witnesses, who were part of the medical team of the Safdarjung Hospital where the 23-year-old was initially treated. They alleged that the woman had died in India due to the negligence of the doctors.
