Inaugurated by Delhi transport minister Ramakant Goswami, the opening day of the three-day festival witnessed the foundation laying ceremony of the Labna Arch, a symbol of art and architecture left behind by the Mayans which, according to a Delhi Tourism official, will stand as a testimony to years of artistic, political and economic exchanges between India and Mexico.

Jaime Nualart, Mexican Ambassador to India, was also present at the function.
