DDA was supposed to send verification letters to the nearly 16,000 allottees of its recent housing scheme by June 15 but due to delay in many cases, DDA had extended the deadline to June 30. The letters have been sent to the allottees so they can furnish documents that prove their genuineness.

The next phase of the allotment process is the dispatch of demand-cum-allotment letters to the allottees found genuine during the verification.

Though the verification drive has got delayed after many allottees didn’t get the verification letters on time, DDA is trying that this doesn’t delay the next phase.

“The date by which the demand letters would be sent has not been decided yet because the verification work is still to be completed,” said a senior DDA official.

“We would know how many of the 16,000 allottees are genuine only after the verification of their documents and after that demand letters will be sent to successful allottees,” the official said.

He also added, “We are ensuring that despite delay in some cases, the process goes on smoothly and doesn’t affect the next phase of the process.”

The allottees have to submit documents like copy of bank account, PAN card, affidavit etc. for verification. After they get the demand letter, allottees have 90 days time to pay the whole amount of the flat.

Allottees can also pay the amount within 180 days, however, they would have to pay an interest amount. After 180 days, DDA would cancel the allotment of those who fail to pay. The process of taking possession of the flat would take two months after payment.
