A day after HT reported how the DJB station at Greater Kailash-1 had turned into touts’ fiefdom, the difference in the running of the station was quite stark. Touts had disappeared, so had the children who used to pay Rs. 10 for a shower from the tankers.

Guards seen snoozing on Tuesday looked alert and were busy managing the queues at the emergency booking counter. People were barred from visiting the tanker filling site and only DJB employees from the emergency booking section were allowed inside.
“The staff have been instructed to fall in line. Those who do not have a clean record will also be suspended. The problem of touts can be solved only when people stop patronising them,” said LL Meena, executive engineer, South III, DJB.
But what remains to be seen is how long this streamlined system will continue.
