Glitch causes Metro doors to remain shut at station

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said this was a rare incident and apparently took place due to a snag in the train. “At Jungpura station, only the doors of the front coach opened for a few seconds. Those of the other coaches did not open at all,” said a DMRC source.

Sources said there was apparently a major problem in the system. “We removed the train from service immediately after the incident. The technical staff have already been asked to identify the reason of the problem,” said a spokesperson of the DMRC.

According to DMRC officials, the technical probe would ascertain whether the problem lay in the MRMB Consortium train (number 0609) or was it the fault of the operator.

This was one of the latest glitches to be reported in the Delhi Metro. Earlier in January, a Metro train had left for the next station with a man’s ankle and hand stuck in its doors. The incident happened due to a glitch in the software-based system that opens and closes train doors.
