Refuting the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s claims of not releasing road improvement funds on time, the Delhi government on Wednesday sanctioned road projects worth Rs 45crore to the civic agency.
Delhi's urban development minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said on Wednesday that the scheme worth R45crore has been approved by the Delhi government and sent to the Central government.
“Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) political brass is always accusing us of not releasing funds for road improvement on time but it is a complete lie. The day I received a file related to road works, I cleared it. These roads include both rural and urban roads.”
The scheme, which has been sanctioned, includes areas such as Sarita Vihar, Lucknow Road — from Mall Road to Timarpur, Narela-Alipur Road, GT Road to Lotus Garden and Mall Road to Outer Ring Road, among others. About nine road schemes have been sanctioned by the government.
"We have sanctioned the scheme on time but we hope MCD will be able to complete the work on time. Till date, we have sanctioned 75% funds. However, when we ask for details we don't get any answers," added Chauhan.
