To appease voters ahead of the municipal elections, the Delhi government is planning to initiate the process of regularising those colonies, which have been given provisional certificates.
Urban development minister AK Walia held a meeting with the department officials on Tuesday, wherein they decided to ask the MCD to start the process of making layouts for the 151 unauthorised colonies.
“As per the information provided by the Survey of India, we have received the aerial images and have fixed the boundaries of all 151 colonies. We are planning to send it to the MCD, so that it can start making the layout, which is a requirement to regularise a colony," said Walia.

Officials said the provisional certificates of 73-odd colonies, which were served with show-cause notice, have been cancelled.
“We will be taking up the matter with the Central government as the civic agency generally takes a lot of time to make layouts and we don't want to delay the regularisation process," said a Delhi government official.
In 2008, the government had awarded provisional certificates to a total of 1,218 unauthorised colonies of 1,638. However, 125 of these were recently served with show-cause notices.
