Govt to examine security grants

The home ministry will re-examine sensitive security clearances handled by tainted IAS officer Ravi Inder Singh to ascertain if he twisted facts to grant clearance to ineligible companies.

The home ministry will re-examine sensitive security clearances handled by tainted IAS officer Ravi Inder Singh to ascertain if he twisted facts to grant clearance to ineligible companies.

The government will also decide if Delhi police should be told to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

"If the ramifications are wider than we believe at the moment, we may decide to hand it to the CBI," a government official said, suggesting a decision was yet to be taken to extend the clean-up operation to the telecom department.

For now, the home ministry has only decided to reopen cases handled by Singh, who faces charges of abusing his powers for sex and money.
