Though you may not have been exempted from examinations this year, the board has made the grind less stressful via grading system.

Why grades?
The constant fear among students of being judged on the basis of their marks and unhealthy competition in classrooms are the reasons why grades have been introduced. So an absolute achievement (marks) has been replaced by a degree of achievement (grades).

How it works
The board had brought in a nine-point grading system. Students will be assessed with numerical marks, which will be converted into grades eventually and communicated to the students. Students and schools will have no access to the marks scored. A1 and E2 are the highest and lowest grades, respectively. While the former is for the marks range of 91 to 100, the latter represents a score of 20 marks and below

A small window
But what about students who want to switch to a different board? Since state boards have not embraced the grading system yet, the CBSE has devised a mechanism for students wanting to know their marks.
“In such a case, the students will have to place a request with the CBSE as even schools will not have access to the marks scored,” said Ameeta Wattal, Principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road.
