At the 18th Delhi Book Fair at Pragati Maidan, visitors are getting a fair share of Bollywood with graphic novels based on movies that are becoming quite a hit. Available at a stall set up by S. Chand and Company, these graphic novels are attracting young readers on the second day of the fair.

Two movies that have made it to the list are Ek Tha Tiger and Dhoom. The two book adaptations have already sold 3,000 copies. Madan Singh Bisht, Senior Branch Manager of S. Chand and Company Ltd said that these ‘yomics’ have been introduced for the first time at a book fair. “They have been published by our sister publication and will cater to the young reader,” he said.

Apart from Bollywood stars, other characters that made it to the book fair were Chota Bhim and Bal Hanuman. Their picture books, comic books, stickers, stationery and tiffin boxes were a rage. “There was a time when Indian children read Batman and Superman but for the last two years Chota Bhim and Bal Hanuman have become popular,” said Madan Lal, a store manager at the fair.

On Sunday, thousands of visitors rushed to the book fair to lay their hands on these magazines and books on display.

A well stocked children’s section was a welcome addition to every stall.
