Northern Railways on Thursday cancelled 18 trains and diverted several others in the wake of violent agitation by the Gujjar community across the national capital region causing acute hardship to commuters.

The rail traffic passing through Rajasthan as well as in and around Delhi was badly affected for the sixth consecutive day on Thursday with 18 trains, including both express and passengers, being cancelled in the interest of passengers safety, a Railway official said.
The trains that have been cancelled are Dehradun Express, Nizamuddin-Udaipur Intercity Express, Nizamuddin-Indore Intercity Express, Firozpur-Mumbai Janta Express and Nizamuddin-Kota Jan Shatabdi Express.
The Gujarat Sampark Kranti Express, Maharashtra Sampark Kranti, August Kranti and Sikkim Mahananda Express were also cancelled.
In addition, local trains such as Aligarh-Delhi EMU, Khurja-Meerut passenger, Nizamuddin-Delhi-Dankaur EMU, Tundla-Delhi EMU, Aligarh-New Delhi EMU, Ghaziabad-Delhi EMU, Nizamuddin-Delhi-Dankaur EMU, Ghaziabad-Delhi EMU and Ghaziabad-Delhi-Mathura EMU train were also cancelled.
The train services have been stopped due to the agitation by Gujjar Samaj Mahapanchayat Samiti and largescale public disturbance between Gangapur City-Bayana section in Kota Division, a Northern Railway statement said.
Train movement in other zones were also badly affected by the agitation with several trains being diverted and rescheduled.
