Even as price rise and corruption took centre stage in Meira Kumar's all-party meet, fear of diabetes dominated the post-meeting lunch. The casualty was 'gajar ka halwa' as very few MPs risked tasting it.

The trigger was Trinamool Congress representative and MoS for health Sudip Bandopadhyay's demand for a discussion on diabetes in winter session. Kumar repeatedly said the halwa was made from sugar-free sweetener, many like Sushma Swaraj and Sharad Pawar avoided it.

Pranab Mukherjee said he only takes rossogolla and sandesh. Lalu ate it, while two Left leaders followed Trinamool leader’s apprehension. He had two plates to please Meira.
