A city court on Thursday extended by a day the custody of Hasan Ali Khan, accused of stashing away billions of dollars abroad, and also severely reprimanded the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) lawyer for coming to the court unprepared.

This is the third time in a row that court has extended Khan's custody by a day to the ED.
Principal Sessions Judge M.L. Tahaliyani also pulled up ED counsel Niti Punde for being unprepared to argue the case. Punde was later replaced by ED with Delhi-based lawyer
Rajiv Awasthi.
The new public prosecutor submitted a report in a sealed envelope to the court. Awasthi said he was not in a position to disclose anything in the open court.
“The investigations are proceeding in a positive direction,” Awasthi said.
Khan is said to have stashed away $8 billion (Rs.36,000 crore) abroad and is allegedly India's biggest tax defaulter.
