Delhi high court has asked the NDMC, along with a school it runs, about denying admission on the grounds that, after delimitation, the students did not live in New Delhi parliamentary constituency. HT reports.

Delhi high court has asked the NDMC, along with a school it runs, about denying admission on the grounds that, after delimitation, the students did not live in New Delhi parliamentary constituency.

The court issued notice to the New Delhi Municipal Council, National Capital Territory government and Navyug School, and told them to file their responses by February 7 for why 12 students were denied admission to the school.

The court was hearing a plea of a group of parents, who said there wards were denied admission because of their residential area. Filing an appeal through their counsel Ashok Agarwal, the parents challenged an earlier order that dismissed their petition on October 28.

In their appeal, the parents said the delimitation was not their choice or fault and, so their children should not suffer, as this was against their fundamental right to education. The denial of admission was also in violation of Delhi Education Act, the parents said.
