The Capital experienced a scorching Thursday, as the mercury rose above 43.1 degrees Celsius — three degrees above normal.

Friday may spell more trouble for Delhiites with the Meteorological department predicting that the temperature will reach around 45 degree Celsius, almost five degrees above normal.
“The heat wave can increase tomorrow (Friday) as the temperature will be around five degree above normal, making it the highest temperature of this season. The situation will remain the same on the weekend as well and there won’t be any respite from the grilling weather,” said a senior official.
The highest temperature was recorded at Palam, where the mercury touched 44.4 degree Celsius and the minimum recorded was 27 degree Celsius.
Faridabad reels under power cuts
Faridabad is facing 5-8 hours of power cuts every day.
“In Faridabad circle, there is demand of 150 lakh power units per day whereas we are in a position to supply only 130 lakh units,” said Sanjeev Chopra, superintending engineer, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), Faridabad circle.
