Heritage sites’ sealing drive leaves tourists fuming

With the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee sealing restaurants and juice shops at prominent monuments in the capital, visitors to the heritage sites had a tough time on Sunday with no water and eatables available to beat the heat.

The committee had during the last two days sealed five illegal structures inside the Red Fort complex, including an ITDC restaurant, a juice outlet in front of Delhi Zoo gate and an eatery run inside the Old Fort, saying these were illegal encroachments.

An eatery at Humayun's Tomb was also sealed on Saturday. However, the move caused severe inconvenience to tourists who had come to visit the monuments.
