Hooch has returned to Delhi after many years. Just two weeks after 17 persons died in Dabri in southwest Delhi after consuming spurious liquor, more deaths have been reported from west Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar in the last seven days. Although police suspected only eight people died in the last seven days, residents claimed the toll was at least 16.

The last big hooch tragedy was reported in 1991 from Jahangirpuri slums in 1991 when more than 200 people died after consuming spurious sura.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said, “It could be the same batch of hooch being circulated which is causing these deaths.”
Tired of police inaction, hundreds of Raghubir Nagar residents took to the streets on Monday and tried to set afire the Rajouri Garden police booth. Traffic was also stopped and fire set off on the road.
