The National Green Tribunal has asked the Delhi Development Authority to submit a proposal on how the Yamuna banks — that have turned into a site for dumping of debris — can be developed, beautified and made pollution-free.

The DDA’s vice-chairman will submit a plan to a committee formed earlier by the tribunal. The committee, chaired by the secretary of the Union ministry of environment and forests, will in turn submit a comprehensive plan to the green watchdog.
The tribunal has told the chairman of the committee to hold as many meetings as possible before giving a final report ahead of the next hearing on April 23.
The tribunal in its ordered issued on Thursday told various central and state government departments besides civic bodies to furnish within three weeks information on collection and disposal of debris, its treatment and by-products.
