HT Education Fair: Day 1 sees students rush to venue

With dreams in their eyes and the determination to achieve their ambition, students thronged the Hindustan Times Education Fair on Saturday. Hema Rawat reports.

With dreams in their eyes and the determination to achieve their ambition, students thronged the Hindustan Times Education Fair on Saturday. The prospective candidates from adjoining areas of Ghaziabad visited the fair seeking expert advise. They were also seen checking out details of various courses offered by academic institutions in Ghaziabad and surrounding areas.

Day one provided an opportunity to aspiring students to find out the pros and cons of the courses of their interest and interact with faculty members at various institutes. Around 30 institutes of higher learning participated in this event held at MMX Mall, Mohan Nagar in Ghaziabad.

“I think it is a good initiative since it promotes academic institutions and consultants who can give us an insight about placement through these institutes. Such events act as a ray of hope to students not having good prospect of getting admission in Delhi University. I have come across few good colleges and course of my interest that I can pursue if I miss an opportunity in DU,” said a student of DAV, Rajendra Nagar, Sahibabad, Swati Sirohi.

“The event was informative. I can check out the authenticity of these institutions’ claims online as well, but this fair gives a chance to have face-to-face interaction with authorities and clear our doubts. This way we can make wise decisions,” said Deepak Sharma, who completed Class 12 from Diwakar Model Senior Secondary School, Sahibabad.

Others like Monika Sirohi from Seventh Day Adventist Senior Secondary School, Hapur, who aspires to make career in environment, were seen conversing with college representatives for odd careers that could be pursued after Class 12.

While HT Campus lent a patient hearing to admission seekers, State Bank of India was offering education loans to students seeking admission to undergraduate and PG courses. Inaugurated by vice-chairman of Ghaziabad Development Authority, Narendra Chaudhary, the fair will conclude on Sunday.
