Sandhya Maini who died probably because of sedative overdose was cremated on Sunday. Sandhya’s husband Ajay Maini, 46, and their children, Rakshak, 19, and Sara, 5, who were also found drugged are still in hospital. The family’s other domestic help, Rajinder, too was drugged.

Investigation Officer Krishna Srivastava said: “The body of Sandhya was cremated by family members. Till Sunday evening, the family had not disclosed the exact amount of jewellery, cash and other valuables missing from the house.”

Srivastava said they were questioning the security guards posted in the residential block in Sector 50 where the Mainis live.

“Private security guards posted at adjacent houses too were questioned for details about Akash, the domestic help,” the officer said.

“Three police teams have been formed and sent to possible locations to find Akash. His relatives and friends in Noida and Delhi are being questioned and his Nepal address is being verified,” she said.

The Sector 49 police station under whose jurisdiction the Mainis house falls is running without a station officer for the past few days. SHO Rakam Singh was transferred to the police lines a few days ago over non-registration of an FIR regarding an auto theft on the DGP’s directions. Since then, the SO’s post has been lying vacant. P.K. Sharma has been appointed as the new station officer.
