Reality TV show ‘Emotional Atyachar’ faces the threat of a ban after the information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry told the Delhi high court that it was vulgar and unfit for public viewing.

This was the view of an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) which watched two episodes of the show on the court’s direction.
The high court is hearing a PIL seeking a ban on the show. “The IMC opined that the concept of furtively recording intimate moves (and) flirtatious advances, as portrayed in the show, with (a) view to exposing the suspect’s loyalty, appears to offend good taste and decency,” said a ministry affidavit that was filed in the court.
“The IMC categorically felt that (such) portrayal and visuals are not suitable for unrestricted public exhibition and for children. The show violated the programme code framed under the provisions of Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act,” the affidavit said.
'Emotional Atyachar’ entails a person suspicious about the loyalty of his/her boyfriend/girlfriend asking the show-makers to conduct a loyalty test on him/her.
