‘I hijacked plane to Kandahar’

The police said that the alleged hijacker of Indigo Airlines flight from Goa to Delhi threatened the passengers by claiming his involvement in the Kandahar hijack, reports Sumit Saxena.

The police on Monday said that the alleged hijacker of Indigo Airlines flight from Goa to Delhi threatened the passengers by claiming his involvement in the Kandahar hijack.

According to the police, Jitender Mohla, a Chartered Accountant, was on his way back Delhi from Goa in flight no 6E-334. He claimed that was a Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official and started creating nuisance in the flight by changing his seat and moving in the aircraft. Mohla demanded the crewmembers to comply with his demands as he was a “high rank official”, and later claimed to hijack the plane with his group members on board.

A case was registered on the complaint of a cabin attendant Sheila (name changed) in the flight. “The cabin attendant informed us that Mohla started walking towards the cockpit and claimed himself as an hijacker involved in Kandahar hijacking. A situation of absolute chaos erupted in the plane as he was boating about his ability to hijack the aircraft,” said a senior police official.

The police on Monday lodged and FIR in which it stated that Mohla had threatened the passengers and crewmembers by screaming that he has a gun and some infectious needles which can be used to spread infection.

“He threatened to hijack the aircraft along with his associates and also said that nobody can escape the flight. The crewmembers stopped him from approaching the cockpit and informed the pilot about the prevalent circumstances,” senior police official added.

Mohla was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Goel on Monday. The prosecution requested the court to send Mohla to judicial custody as the accused has intimated all the passengers and threatened the crewmembers to hijack the aircraft.
