Ice-cream vendor held for murder

Enraged over being called a thief, an ice-cream vendor allegedly murdered another in south-east Delhi but landed in police net. The incident took place in Sangam Vihar on July 7 and the deceased has been identified as Ashok. The arrested has been identified as Sheeshpal.

Sheeshpal initially tried to mislead police by telling them that he had seen the deceased with two boys just before the incident and on this, two sketches were prepared. However, police later came to know that Sheeshpal had confessed to an acquaintance that he had committed the murder following which he was questioned.

During questioning, police said, he confessed to the crime. Sheeshpal Singh was employed by Jaswant Singh, an ice cream trader who also gave employment to the deceased.

"Sheeshpal works as a tailor in a readymade garments factory during day time and in the evening he used to sell ice cream. About two months back his employer noticed that Sheeshpal is involved in stealing ice creams from the store and sacked him.

The official said on July 7, Sheeshpal asked Ashok to give him ice cream but Ashok abused him, which he could not bear and hit him on his head with a small empty gas cylinder lying in the room.

"When he fell down Sheeshpal picked up a pump which was also lying there and beat him brutally. He gagged him with the help of the pump till he died just to take revenge of his defamation regarding stealing ice cream," the official said.
