Within an hour of the Qutub Minar-Central Secretariat stretch was thrown open for public, parking lots in Gurgaon Metro stations started facing space crunch. The five Metro stations in Gurgaon offer a combined parking space of about 19,475 sqm which is good enough for only 620 four-wheelers and 2,300 two-wheelers.
With almost all parking lots jam-packed, commuters were asked to park their cars elsewhere. "As Metro is now connected to South Delhi, I planned to meet my relatives in Hauz Khas and went to HUDA City Centre to board a train. The parking attendant asked me to park my car at IFFCO Chowk as there was little space. But other parking lots were too not different," said Satyendra Singh, a resident of DLF Phase-III.
But the situation eased after 3 pm. "Usually our parking has ample space. But, on Friday, we had to turn many back as already there were more than 350 cars parked," said the parking attendant of HUDA City Centre station. Same was the case at Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road station, which could accommodate only 25 cars.
At the HUDA City Centre station, the parking lot is about 6,500 square yards on the surface where about 200 cars can be parked, while there is space for parking 485 cars in the basement. But basement parking is not yet ready. Similarly, parking space of about 4,000 sqm is available at IFFCO Chowk Station, about 2,000 sqm at Sikanderpur station and about 4,000 sqm at Guru Dronacharya Metro station.

{{/usCountry}}Maximum parking is available at MG Road station. Apart from Kanhaiya Nagar and HUDA City Centre, the other major parking lots are at Janakpuri West (6,383 sqm), Yamuna Bank (6,300 sqm) and Patel Chowk (6,065 sqm).
