In pics: Driverless metro makes its way to Delhi tracks

After testing driverless metros for the past few months, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) finally launched the new swanky trains equipped with several advanced features. These metros will ply on sections of phase-III of the network, which will be operation by the end of 2016.

DMRC had acquired these trains last year from a Korea-based manufacturer.

The six-coach train that was ferried to India by sea, arrived at Gujarat’s Mundhra port and was brought by road to Delhi on special trailers.

Design of the new train is different from existing trains.

LED screens have been installed. These trains will display the route-map.

There will be no space below the seats in new trains. Apparatus for wifi has been installed in this space.

CCTV cameras and USB ports have been installed.

Colour of reserved seats will be different and every coach will have seats of different colours

There is a provision of backrest.

Driver’s cabin will be removed after trial run. Passengers can have a view of the track
