Buses on eight routes out of 14, which are run by Bombay Rajasthan Transport corporation on behalf of the DMRC, went off the roads today with the drivers and workers alleging that their contractor were not raising their pay and giving bonus.

Thousands of commuters rely on the feeder buses to reach their homes from metro stations at a minimum cost.

A total of 60 buses out of the 120 did not ply today forcing the metro commuters to take autos and other modes of private transport to reach their destinations from stations.

Feeder buses were not available from metro stations such as Shastri Park, Welcome, Yamuna Bank, Janakpuri east, Janakpuri west and Dwarka sectors 9 and 10.

Priya, a software professional who arrived at Yamuna Bank station, said she had to spend an extra Rs 50 to reach her home in Mayur Vihar.

"I usually take a feeder bus from the station. But today I waited for more than 45 minutes. I was forced to take an auto. Knowing that buses are not there, the auto driver also charged more money," she said.
