India congratulated Madhav Kumar Nepal for his election as the Prime Minister of Nepal on Monday and hoped that the peace process and the task of Constitution drafting will now move forward expeditiously.

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said India is ready to support Nepal in any manner it would want.
Madhav Nepal, a veteran Communist leader, was earlier in the day sworn in as the Prime Minister after weeks of political crisis created by sudden resignation of Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' as Prime Minister.
"I would like to congratulate Mr Madhav Nepal on his election as the Prime Minister of Nepal," Krishna told reporters while taking charge of his office.
"We hope that the peace process, including the important tasks of Constitution drafting, will now move forward expeditiously," he said.
He noted that India has a unique relationship with Nepal and "we stand ready to support Nepal in any manner it would want us to."
